Bathroom – A Transformation

The photo below was taken on the day we viewed the property. As you can see there is a delightful green plastic bathroom suite and a shower in the back right corner which had seen better days – a special mention also goes to the brown carpet tiles!

The photo below was taken once Ben had taken the ceiling down as well as some of the plaster from the walls.

Bathroom Mess

It seems I then neglected to take any photos of the bathroom until it was almost finished, however none the less, you can see that we took the built in shower out and put a large walk in shower in.

At this stage we had not yet painted the green door…

The photo below is the finished bathroom.

I bought the cast iron bath off ebay and renovated it using white enamel spray for the inside (bought from Halfords), Shadow Satin Paint from B&Q for the outside, then painted the feet with Gold Gloss Paint from B&Q. The taps/bath mixer were purchased new from ebay.

The shower tray and glass was purchased new from ebay as was the shower mixer.

The walls are painted with Driftwood by Wickes.

I will do a separate post on how I did the sink cabinet, however it is also painted with Shadow Satin Paint from B&Q.

  1. Wow, we have a tragic bathroom that needs transforming and you have given me some great ideas. I love your flooring, and how is the bath? I have considered an old cast iron but heard that they are really heavy and the enamel spray can look patchy?

    • I loved the bath (we have now moved house – another renovation!) but it was heavy – sturdy floorboards needed and two strong men to carry the bath upstairs. The enamel spray actually looked great which suprised me, it wasn’t patchy at all – the only thing is I would have liked it to have been a bit more shiner but perhaps we just bought a matt spray.

  2. The transformation was so beautiful. You’ve managed to make a beautiful project out of the mess. The shower area is so fab. Congratulations to this new bathroom.

  3. amazing transformation, I love the combination of textures and colours. and the soft grey ties everything together beautifully.
